Environmentally conscious and sustainable
This is important to us
EMAS Environmental certification
As an EMAS (European Union Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certified company, we place particular emphasis on responsible environmental management. We are regularly audited by independent, state-approved environmental auditors, and we work to continuously improve our activities and services. In our EMAS environmental statement, we would like to inform you openly about our work.
Continuing what was created generations ago, together with our environment.
Our goal is to be more environmentally friendly through continuous improvement. By “environment,” we mean our natural surroundings, but also our guests, employees, and everyone we interact with.
Running our house in harmony with our environment means to us:
We have our heat energy supply is replaced by a wood chip system, which is powered by local renewable raw materials from the region or partly from our own forests. We are very endeavored to insulate our old house from the ground up so that energy consumption is kept as low as possible.
We source our products locally wherever possible and attach great importance to our suppliers delivering the products in reusable containers to avoid the use of cardboard boxes, etc.
We use water collected from cisterns to irrigate our outdoor areas. The pond is also irrigated with roof water.
To make sure our guests are lacking no comfort is lacking, these are also incorporated into our environmental policy. Through targeted surveys, we gain insight into how our guests have responded to our environmental policy. In the same way we receive from them Suggestions for improvement, which we will, as far as possible, implement.
In our already completed and planned conversion and extension projects, work will be done on local material. We also strive to employ local craftsmen as much as possible to keep the distances between production sites as short as possible and ensure their livelihoods are secured.
We would also like to thank our employees actively involved in our environmental policy. In our annual training courses, we not only emphasize industrial hygiene, emergency care and fire protection, but also raise awareness of environmentally friendly behavior and sustainable working methods.
Nature park host
In the Southern Black Forest Nature Park, hoteliers and restaurateurs have joined forces to present their guests with the region’s fantastic natural xperience, virtually on their plates. A Nature Park innkeeper offers at least three regional main courses year-round.
Regional means that the main ingredients for our dishes come from the nature reserve. You can find out where the products come from on the menu or simply ask our friendly staff. The Nature Park’s innkeepers are closely connected to the landscape, its culture, and tradition. They use local products out of conviction, knowing that only through close partnerships between producers, restaurateurs, and guests can our unique Black Forest landscape be preserved in the long term.
“Taste the South”- restaurateur
The “Taste the South. Baden-Württemberg” restaurateurs are a state-wide association of regionally operating restaurants, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021. Over 320 restaurateurs in Baden-Württemberg are already participating in the initiative and setting the standard for a trustworthy regional enjoyment. We are pleased to be part of this nationwide association and to have been classified with 2 Lions again in 2020. For example, enjoy over 17 regional dishes from our menu and let yourself be pampered with culinary delights from the region and seasons.
Leader Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l’Économie Rurale
We are also actively committed to strengthening our region within the framework of the EU LEADER programme (“Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l’Économie Rurale”, linking actions for the development of the rural economy).
